Traveling With Your Pet! www.first6monthswithyourpet.com
-
Keep in mind that pets can suffer from heatstroke when left in a confined space or in a hot vehicle. Take extra care to be sure there is ample ventilation. When in a car or motorhome, leave at least two windows open slightly to provide fresh ventilated air and be sure to park in the shade. Consider a solar powered fan, one that fits snugly into the window and is powered by the sun.
-
Be sure that you have provided at least one bowl of water for your pet to drink and, if you're going to be out for an extended period, add one or two more, just in case.
-
Make a definite point to always clean up after your pet. Places that allow pets are making a special accommodation and if we want to feel that our pets are welcome, we must not abuse the privilege. Treat the areas where you walk as if it were you own yard. Your courtesy will spread to others.
-
When traveling with your pet, and especially when sending them via cargo on an aircraft, freeze water so that it will not fall out during loading, but will melt by the time your pet is thirsty.
-
Make sure the crate that your pet travels in is in top condition and is labeled in multiple places. It is a good idea to tape around the bottom of the kennel. It will keep people from opening the door and you never know if your dog will push or jump against the door and spring it open.
-
After you're sure that your pet is welcome at the hotel or resort you are staying at, request a room at the end of the hall and away from the ice machine and/or pool area. The quieter the room, the fewer errant barks to worry about.
-
Be sure to carry a current copy of your pet's health certificate from the veterinarian in addition to their food and toys!
-
Do not let your dog put his head out of a moving vehicle, this can lead to eye injuries.
Wishing you a wonderful 2011 Summer Vacation

The Cat Tree - www.first6monthswithyourpet.com
Since your cat probably enjoys spending time near you, it will use the tree more if it were located in a family-occupied area.
If you place the cat tree in a guest room where no one goes, your cat will either ignore it or it will feel the need to isolate itself from you, and that's something that neither of you would want.
The ideal spot is near a window in a room where your family spends time, such as a den or living room.

Klepto Kitty Piles up the Loot
http://www.first6monthswithyourpet.com
GENEVA - Forget mice. A Swiss cat named Speedy has an eye for finer things.
Speedy has stolen so much loot that its owner had to post leaflets throughout a northern Swiss town saying "Help, our cat steals!" and inviting people to recover their missing things.
Margrit Geiger of Wiesendangen said her kleptomaniac cat switched three years ago from bringing home mice to stealing badminton shuttlecocks, all to impress her teenage son.
Then the cat began specializing in gloves, scarves and T-shirts. The latest obsession: underwear and black socks.
Geiger told the Swiss daily Blick the cat has nabbed more than 100 items, and the paper said Thursday some neighbours have already claimed items back.
Veterinarian Brigitte Buetikofer says animals steal to gain attention, so ignoring them is the best cure.

Cowboy Up!
Unfortunately, for many years, riding a horse was an activity I had given up. Once you get married, have children, get a full-time job, life has a way of just passing you by. In my "older days" now, I think I'd like to live the life of The Horse Whisperer. To have a

1. Entering data for my pet sitting business

I've been looking for a way to earn extra money from home for quite a while. It's so frustrating, though, with all of the scams and get rich quick schemes out there. When I heard that Donna Partow, author of Making Money From Home (published by Focus on the Family) was offering a training program, I was determined to see if I could get accepted.
Well, guess what? I got accepted into the Home Business Apprenticeship Program and now I'm being personally trained by someone who's generated MILLIONS of dollars in sales from her home office. Donna has worked from home for more than 20 years, so she knows exactly what she's doing.
It's such a relief to know I'm learning the right way to earn money from home, rather than wasting my time and money on stupid internet scams. Plus I found out: just by working from home, I can file a Schedule C (profit and loss from your own business) and Form 8829 (Business Use of my Home) along with my Tax Return and I'll save an average of $2,800 per year on taxes. That's an extra $233 in my pocket every month, just for setting up a home office.
Now I can legally write-off a portion of my mortgage, home owners insurance, car, car insurance, health insurance, the cost of running errands around town (I drop off flyers and business cardsd everywhere I go) and so much more. I figure even if I don't start making money right away (Donna is honest about the fact that there's no such thing as overnight riches), just by starting a business, I'm already helping my family by keeping $233 per month of our hard-earned money in our own bank account, rather than sending it to the IRS.
Well, that's just a small example of what I'm learning in the Home Business Apprenticeship. I don't know if you have the qualifications for the program, but you should definitely look into it.

Blogging Outside The Litter Box
Cat Urinating Problems?
I recommend taking your cat to the Veterinarian immediately. You need to specify that the cat is urinating outside the litter box. Be sure to mention any loud vocalizations by the cat when the urinate. Peeing outside the box is a primary symptom of Urinary Tract Disorders.
If your cat gets the OK from your Vet, you may want to make the following changes:
1. Try changing the type of litter you are using…because overly sweet-scented litter material irritates the cat
2. Make sure you scoop the litter box daily. More often, if you have more cats!!
3. Have more than one box if you have more than one cat…a box a cat is best…
4. Keep the boxes separate from each other because if they are too close, your cat may assume its one big litter box and not like the smell coming from a full one next to it.
These are just a few suggestions. You can, however, check out the items listed below for more information.
